Before classes started, the UHP Fellows were back and excited!

Our twelve University Honors Program Fellows are back on campus and are in training. Lead by our Village Director, Dr. Katy Leonard, the fellows are establishing their identity and outlining plans for the academic year while discussing two texts, Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire and Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy, NCSU’s Common Reading. Returning Fellow Katie Valchar added “I appreciate the way Dr. Leonard relies on the students to lead conversation.” UHP Fellow Sumner Dudick thought “The conversations today with all of the new Fellows and Dr. Leonard  give me a lot of hope about the direction of the Village. I am really looking forward to this year.”
The Honors Village Fellows are also preparing for KickStart, a program for incoming Honors Quad residents that provides an introduction to the Honors Village, Honors Program, and NC State. “I am so excited to be back on campus. I think the training will set us up for a good year. We are establishing the identity of the program that we will implement for the upcoming year.”  – First Year Fellow, Meredith Biechele
