University Honors Program student, Lauren Frey will be presenting her research “Barriers to Implementing Dating and Sexual Violence Prevention Education in Durham Schools” on Thursday, February 23, 2017. The event is part of the “Durham Local to Global Women’s Forum: Cities for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).” Frey’s research evaluated the effect of prevention education on ending interpersonal violence and reducing the associated costs of medical care, mental health care, criminal justice services, and income and productivity losses. “I cannot wait to share my findings and make recommendations to Durham community members and government officials on what they can do to make a difference in reducing dating and sexual violence” said Frey.
This is the first presentation of four. Frey will also present at the Durham city government, Durham county commissioners, and the United Nations Women Commission on the Status of Women.
