Florence study abroad

Florence, Italy summer abroad program – sponsored by the University Honors Program.

Students gathered to see the sunset in Florence.

Nestled in the fabled landscape of Tuscany, where art, architecture, food, and history blend easily together in a romantic and sun-drenched city, Florence is a must for the adventurous student. Stroll along the banks of the Arno River, make your way through the shops nestled along the famed Ponte Vecchio bridge (built in 1345!), visit the world-famous jewelry, clothing and leather shops, spend a leisurely afternoon in the Boboli Gardens, drop in for a coffee or a snack at your favorite street-side cafe or enjoy incredible multi-course Italian meals, and, of course, absorb the abundance of artistic wealth found throughout the city’s museums, palazzi, and churches as you walk the streets once wandered by Michelangelo, Boccaccio, Galileo, and the Medici.

The Florence Program is sponsored by the University Honors Program and is carried out in cooperation with the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute (LDM). Located in the heart of historic Florence, the main LDM building dates back to the 13th century. The teaching facilities are completely modernized, though, and include excellent classrooms, studio facilities, and a library with full computer access. Field trips to Venice, Sorrento, Pompei, the Isle of Capri, Lucca, and Pisa are included in this program.
