NC State’s oldest study abroad program!

Oxford, England: the city of dreaming spires, the quintessential college town, an intersection of intellect and adventure. NC State’s oldest summer study abroad program is in Oxford and it is also undoubtedly one of its best. The Oxford Study Abroad program encapsulates everything you could expect from a month in one of the most prestigious universities in the world – courses with amazing Oxford Dons, history around every corner, and a diverse crowd of great minds and unique characters to mingle with daily. For the month you will live and study in the heart of Oxford with course options in 20th Century British History (with one of the most engaging professors you will ever have) and the Plays of Shakespeare (with one of the most knowledgeable professors in the subject) or an amazing HON Seminar led by a fabulous NC State faculty. Taking these courses in Oxford helps bring the content to life as you’re surrounded by history and inspiration everywhere you turn.

The program also includes outside excursions to connect you to the culture, history and daily life of Oxford and England. There’s a weekend adventure to the bustling city of London to see all the sights from the top of the London Eye to the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London. Closer to Oxford there are trips to see the ancient wonder of Stonehenge, Blenheim Palace (the birthplace of Winston Churchill), a performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, a visit to the Harry Potter Studios and much more. You’ll also have one free weekend to roam as you see fit – hop on a train and head to Paris, jump on a bus and go to Scotland, or point at the map of Europe and see where you end up. And then, of course, there are the small adventures that you’ll find on your own – tucked away pubs, wild fields, winding walks, cozy tea shops, magnificent colleges, renowned museums, and quiet churches.
